*This is a comprehensive, in-depth guide for Actions. If you're just getting started, check out [Getting Started With AI Agents](/user-guide/getting-started/quickstart).*

Credal Actions allow users to create well-defined actions that agents can use proactively to help you as your personal assistants.

Some basic examples of actions include:

* Address validation
* Updating information in collaboration tools (Confluence, Google Drive)
* Consulting with other agents

Actions are a powerful tool to make your agents even stronger than they already are.

## **Getting Started**

To create actions, you'll use **action templates** — pre-built skeletons that define specific types of operations like updating Confluence pages, sending Slack messages, or querying databases.

Learn more about [Action Templates](/user-guide/platform/governed-actions/action-templates), including how administrators can control which templates are available and configure human approval requirements at the template level.

Before creating your first action, learn about [action parameters](/user-guide/platform/governed-actions/action-parameters)!

## Coming Soon

We're actively developing additional action management capabilities. If you'd like early access to any of these features, please contact us at [support@credal.ai](mailto:support@credal.ai):

* **Rate limiting for actions**: Set usage limits for actions to prevent abuse and control costs, including per-user, per-agent, and organization-wide rate limits
